Non fiction books are some of the best sellers |

Nonfiction books have always been around, but they seem to be more popular then ever these days. You cannot walk through a book store without thinking you are lacking in just about every area of your life. There are nonfiction books that tell you how to dress, how to talk, how to date, how to divorce, how to raise your kids, and how to pack for vacation. I know we all need a little guidance now and then, but it makes you wonder if people would prefer that others do their thinking for them. Some of my favorite nonfiction books are parenting books. These can be gold mines for new parents. Unlike other things that we learn as we grow, parenting is something that often takes us by surprise, and there are many speed bumps a long the way. The only problem that I have with some of them is that they tend to push their own agenda at times, and that can be problematic. Good nonfiction books that talk about parenting should cover major problems, and a few hidden ones, but should never be preachy. Luckily, there are many great ones out there. It would seem that nonfiction books are not going anywhere any time soon. There is a lot more going on in our lives than every before, and many people are turning to others for advice. Reading a book is a lot faster than trying to find a professional to give them guidance, and there are times when we don’t want to talk about something at all to anyone. If a book can help someone work through their problems and perhaps prevent them from making very bad choices, then I am all for it. I just hope they don’t take the place of people developing their own thoughts and looking for their own solutions, at least once in a while.
